My Classroom Management Philosophy
My Classroom Management philosophy is largely informed by the Love & Logic ideology. In my classroom, students are expected to take responsibility for their actions, words, and problems. I am there to offer suggestions and mediation as well as model appropriate behavior and problem-solving techniques. However, I expect my students to solve their own problems. I have clear limits and high expectations. Students who respect those limits and strive for those expectations are welcome to participate in all of the fun and engaging learning activities I will foster in my classroom. I will allow for frequent practice for and explicit instruction in procedures. Students will then be expected to follow these procedures and more practice will be required if they are not. I firmly believe in building a culture and atmosphere of love and empathy in my classroom. My firmness in expectations will always be rooted in love for each of my students, and I will seek to model that love for each other for my students. Students will be expected to interact with others in the classroom with the same love and empathy that I model.
